Actiontec Bluetooth™ Headset |
|
This is the first headset that ever I purchased. Size: This is one of the smallest and lightest units that I have used Fit: The device is very easy to clip around your ear and it stays in the ear. User interface: There are two buttons on the top of the unit. Sometimes it’s hard to determine their location when you reach up to make changes. Having only two buttons did not limit its functionality. Audio Quality: The quality of sound in the ear is just ok. If the volume is turned up the audio starts to distort very fast. The quality of sound from the microphone is really bad. When I talk to people they say it sounds like I am in a tunnel and the voice level is very low. This was the main reason I took the unit back. Phone issues: The only complaint is that on the Nokia 6820 every time the phone sends audio to the earpiece the message “Call Waiting Active” pops up for two seconds. Summary:
This is a very small easy to use headset but the microphone quality
was so poor it was not practical for day to day use. It’s good for
checking voice mails because it’s quick to get on and off the ear
and the sound quality is ok. |

Logitech® Mobile Bluetooth® Headset |

Size: This is the largest headset that I have reviewed although the unit is very light. Fit: The fit is the best of all the headsets I have tried. You can clip in on your ear in less then one second with out having to play around getting it in the right position. User interface: This unit has three buttons (volume up, down, and mode). Having a separate mode button is nice because it’s easy to find. The volume buttons are backwards. To raise the volume you press the down button on the bottom. To lower the volume you press the up button on the top. Audio Quality: Audio quality is the best feature of this device. The sound in the the ear is very clear and it gets very loud with out any distortion. The microphone quality is very clear and I am told it sounds a little loud on the other end. I think that is a good feature. Phone issues: Volume bars pop up on the phone randomly. When you receive a call you have to wait three seconds for the volume bars to go away to read the caller ID info. Voice dialing did not work on the unit I received. I called tech support and they are sending a new unit. Read the support section. Summary: After I get the voice dial feature resolved this will be the best headset I have reviewed and the one I think I will use daily. The unit is a lot larger but is very comfortable to use and the sound quality is better then my phone. I read the LED is to bright and the boom microphone is easy to break off. I agree with both. I also read if you break the microphone Logitech will not cover it under warranty. When you close the boom microphone it stops half way back one way and goes all the way back the other way. It is a design flaw. Support: Logitech is the only company I had to call because voice dialing did not work. Their tech support is HORRIBLE. The people that answer the phone do not know anything at all about their product. Instead of reading from a script they make up false information. I spent a total of three hours dealing with a lot of people I strongly believe do not understand what the purpose of Bluetooth is. During the call I worked my way up there support chain until I found someone that understood what a headset profile was. He told me there were two versions of firmware and I receive an old one. I had to ship my unit back and they would send a new one when they received mine. |

Belkin Bluetooth™ Hands-Free Headset |

Size: The unit is very small and light weight. Fit: The unit fit well because they use a metal wire covered with rubber molding that forms to the shape of your ear. This made for a perfect fit. Once you get it formed to fit perfect is very hard to get on and off the ear and needs a lot of adjustments each time you have to put it back on. It does come with three different ear pieces that either go into the ear or cover the ear. User Interface: This is unit has a great user interface. There is single button on the back. You push it up to turn the volume up, down to turn the volume down, and you push it in for different modes. It’s very intuitive. Audio Quality: The quality of audio in the ear is below average and very low turned all the way up. The quality from the microphone is low but does not have the tunnel effect the Actiontec unit had. Phone issues: Volume bars pop up on the phone randomly. When you receive a call you have to wait three seconds for the volume bars to go away to read the caller ID info. Summary: This is a very small very easy to use device but the audio quality is less then par and I returned it.

Motorola Wireless Headset HS810 |

Size: The unit is very small but larger then the Actiontec and Belkin unit Fit: The fit is very odd. It clips behind the ear then with some playing around it has a suction cup interface in the ear that makes it stick inside the ear. You can see it in the picture. It is a little painful and gave me a headache if it was in the ear for more then an hour. User Interface: There is a button near the back on the top for volume up and another near the back on the bottom for volume down. There is a button on the side to change the mode. The microphone folds into the unit and turns the unit off when not in use. This is a great feature that should be on all headsets. Audio Quality: The audio in the ear was above average but does not have the volume of the Logitech unit. The audio from the microphone I was told it sounds good but is low compared to the Logitech unit. Phone issues: none This unit works perfect. Summary: The
unit has ok sound and a great user interface but it’s uncomfortable
and gave me a headache after extended use. |

Plantronics Voyager™ 510 Bluetooth® Headset |
|
Size: its very light weight and is very easy to put on and remove from the ear. Fit: It fits great, because the base is in the back it does not flop around, one of the best fitting headsets out there. User interface: It has the most buttons of any headset I have reviewed, Power, Up vol, Down Vol, and a call button, the buttons are intuitive Audio Quality: This is were the unit shines, at times it sounds better then the phone its connected, the person on the other end claims its very clear, They were able to hear road notice while I was going 80MPH Phone issues: none at all, everything works great Summary: This is a great headset that I would recommend to others. The best feature is the audio quality, the worse features is lack of a mini USB charge option.
